Berry Sweet Pepper Tart


Berry Sweet  Pepper Tart Recipe 

Whip up a couple of these fresh summer treats for your next dinner party!


Dough
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup wheat pastry flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cold, unsalted butter
1 tablespoon canola oil
1/4 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
1 or 2 tablespoons of cold water


Filling
All purpose flour for dusting
1 12 cups sliced strawberries
4 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
pinch of salt

Mix the flour, sugar, and salt in a medium bowl. Cut the butter into little squares smaller than the size of peas. Stir in the oil and the vinegar. Mix in water so that the dough is evenly moist and a little crumbly but not wet. Make the dough into a ball. Place on parchment paper and pat into a circle about 9 inches wide.



Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place parchment paper of a baking sheet and place the dough on it. Toss the strawberries with the sugar, flour, cornstarch, pepper, and salt. Place a mound of the strawberries onto the center of the dough. Leave a boarder of dough about two inches wide around the strawberries.



Fold the boarder of dough up around the mound of strawberries. The dough shouldn't meet in the middle.


Bake the tart for 40 minutes. Let cool and enjoy! Yummy!
